Cable Laying Method - Single Layer

The Single Layer cable laying method is used for larger power cables where the cables are placed in a single layer inside of the cable tray.

Single Layer No Spacing

By default, the single layer cable laying method does not include spacing between cables as shown in the image below.

This cable laying method can also be configured to use predefined fixed spacing between cables

In the SPEC_CableFill.xml file, the Single Layer method is defined as following:

<CalcMethod type="single_layer_fixed" name="_[Single Layer]_"
par1="0" />

"par1" is used to define fixed spacing between cables.

  • If set to 0 there is no spacing between cables.
  • If set to different number, that number will define spacing between cables (inches or millimeters depending on whether it is an imperial or metric dataset)

In the Single layer override Parameter 1= 0 by default, but can be changed if needed to provide fixed spacing between the cables.

Single Layer Override - Spacing equals largest cable diameter

This selection is available from the Cable Laying Method drop down list.

When this cable laying method is selected, the spacing between the cables in the cable tray is equal to the diameter of the largest cable.

Once the Single layer spacing equals largest cable diameter override is selected, no additional parameters need to be defined.
